On Sundays I offer comments on some of the most interesting information technology stories that I have found on the web that week.  Please feel free to join in the discussion or suggest stories during the week.

This week’s story is from CNN.com and Pete Cashmore of Mashable and is one of the dozens of similar stories that always come out near the end of every year.  It covers their predictions for the coming year concerning the way ahead for technology and The Internet.  Check it out here:

CNN.com – 10 Web trends to watch in 2010

As 2009 draws to a close, the Web’s attention turns to the year ahead. What can we expect of the online realm in 2010?

While Web innovation is unpredictable, some clear trends are becoming apparent. Expect the following 10 themes to define the Web next year.

My commentary is just this: Pete is dead right on this whole list and should know.  He is positioned right at the epicenter of The Internet.  Take a look at his list and tell me if you agree.  My only complaint is that it seemed a tad bit conservative of a list.  I did not see anything on the list that has not already begun to percolate as an information age trend.  I would really love to know what Pete thinks the undiscovered trends are… but then again, that is how he makes his way in the world, but exploiting those trends before others…

Since there is now a ton of buzz associated with this topic at this time of year, all Information Professionals should read up on this and form their own opinion.  Hopefully, this can get you started.

What do you think about this topic?  Do you agree or disagree with me? Do you have a recommended news story for next week? Please share your ideas below.
