It has only been two days, and I have changed the site layout again.  I regret doing this and did not intend to, but the last iteration had a few fatal flaws.

  1. Mobile Layout.  No matter what I did, the site simply did not look right on iPhone and BlackBerry browsers.  This accounts for nearly 15% of my readership, so was a critical problem.
  2. Custom Coding.  The last theme required some custom code adjustments to make the site look presentable.  This was no fault of the developer, but was a result of me trying to make his screwdriver hammer nails for my needs.

So, as you can no doubt tell, I launched a brand new look for The Information Technology Thought of the Day website today!  I know that many of you will no like the change because you have become familiar with the old layout and interface, but a the same factors reported three days ago were still valid.

There are many advantages to the new layout!

  1. Cleaner and simpler interface.
  2. Fancy new navigation widget on the left near the top.
  3. Great new footer full of useful links.
  4. Better navigation for pages at the top!

The new theme is the WordPress Mystique theme by digitalnature.  Please give his site a view and if you like what you see here, recommend the developer to your web design friends!

So, please share your feedback on our new layout.  You can use the comments section for this post or use the “contact me” button near the top of the page to give me that feedback.

Thank you for your readership and patience during this second change.

-Scott
